Route 66 SignRoute 66 was built in 1986 when the original building was severely damaged by fire. Some of the unique features came from an old church in East Vassalboro, Maine. The collecting began then and took 13 years to complete. There is a large collection of metal toys and lionel trains. Tin and neon signs decorate the walls. Antiques and memorabilia are displayed everywhere. This is the largest restaurant museum on the island and maybe in the state. You are cordially invited to dine and reminisce with us. Don't forget your camera as picture taking is allowed.

The Reece family; Terry, wife Sherry, and son Mathew, are the current owners. The name was changed to Route 66 restaurant as Freddie has retired. The Reece family owned and operated the Colonels Restaurant, Deli, Bakery in Northeast Harbor, Maine for the last 20 years.

The restaurant business began for Terry and Sherry when Sherry's parents, Ed and Eileen Branch opened the Colonels in N.E. Harbor, Maine back in 1974. In 1984 the Branches sold the Colonels to Terry and Sherry and opened the Seafood Ketch Restaurant on Bass Harbor, Maine. The Seafood Ketch is currently owned and operated by Sherry's brother Stuart and wife Lisa. The Reece's son Mark and wife Stephanie are now carrying on the family business at the Colonels. You may also visit Ed and Eilenn at "Where Art Thou" antique shop in Seal Cove, Maine where they still bake and sell homemade breads and pies.
